The No B.S. Life

stop doing what doesn't matter. start living what does.

How to Start Something

nature-person-feet-legsMost of the time, I don’t know what I’m doing or how I’m going to do it. But I do it anyway…

When you read what I’m about to say, I want you to apply it to your own life. So you can either:

1) get out of your own way or

2) pivot (give yourself permission to move into a new direction once you know more)

Every great thing I’ve ever built has started with a desire in my heart. It’s a desire for MORE. Often I can’t define the “more” but it’s this feeling that is calling me forward. And there is this vague idea of how to start.

What I’m saying here is to accomplish or build anything great or to hit any worthwhile goal it begins with:

1. Fear, or at best…uncertainty.
2. Feeling like you don’t possibly know enough to begin.
3. Beginning before you have any idea of how you will finish, if you will finish, or if you have it in you to finish!

There is no SURE thing in any endeavor worthwhile. There is no SURE thing in how following your TRUTH will look or unfold.

I can only say, do it anyway. You must. It is why you are here.  Success is not in “things, money, or title” — it is in living your truth.  It takes grit.

And…you’re deluding yourself if you’re using lack of time or money or lack of more training before you begin. This is the B.S. we tell ourselves to feel better about not having the guts to follow our hearts.

Ouch. I know. Listen, I’m not preaching to you from some high place. I’ve used and use those excuses as well. And each time they leave me feeling less powerful and if they really get a hold…depressed. Not honoring your desires, purpose and calling is costly.

You just need one step. What do you want? Even if it’s vague…can you define it a little bit. Get as a close as you can to what you want to bring into your life or create? What is the first step you can take?

Is it::

:: calling a friend
:: reading a book
:: ordering a book
:: Googling something
:: enrolling in a class
:: finding a training partner
:: hiring a coach
:: going someplace

Just take the very first step. Trust that it will lead you to step number 2.

There is magic and miracles in first steps.  More is at play than you think. And that’s No BS.
